Decide your last meaningful moment before the night begins: dessert, a final song, coffee, or one last toast. When that moment arrives, begin the close with small practical actions rather than a hard announcement.

Turning on entry lights or clearing the coffee cups is kinder than announcing that everyone must go.

- Serve the final coffee, tea, or dessert and let music soften.

- Start gathering empty glasses and mention the practical reality gently if needed.
